INTRA-COMPANY TRANSFER WORK VISA
An Intra-company transfer is a type of work visa that allows for a staff member to transfer from an overseas company to a branch, subsidiary or affiliated business that is operating in South Africa.
How long is the Intra-company transfer work visa valid for? An Intra-company transfer is a temporary work visa only, and as such its validity period is for a maximum of four years. Please note an Intra-company transfer work visa cannot be extended.
The Intra-company transfer work visa needs to be applied for outside of South Africa.
CORPORATE WORK VISA
This is a visa issued by the Department to a corporate worker. A corporate applicant is defined as juristic person established under the laws of the Republic of South Africa or foreign country as a corporation to employ foreigners to conduct work for such applicant.
A corporate visa can only be issued to South African registered company or branch (the applicant) and it offers the possibility to employ great numbers of employees from abroad, all under the remit of one application.
The Corporate Visa may be issued to a corporate applicant to enable them to employ foreigners who may take up employment for the applicant for a limited period of time.
SECTION 11(2) SHORT TERM WORK VISA
In the case of short term work or an urgent need pertaining to a limited duration (not exceeding a period of three (3) months) of work activities that cannot be met by an application for a work visa, including, but not limited, to service technicians, journalists and film crews a section 11(2) work visa may be considered.
All foreigners who intend conducting work in terms of section 11(2), must be issued with a visitor’s visa (not exceeding a period of three (3) months) at a foreign mission of the Republic of South Africa, before proceeding to the Republic.
SECTION 11(6) SPOUSAL VISA WITH WORK ENDORSEMENT
A work visa may be issued to the spouse of a South African citizen or permanent resident. This visa falls under the visitors visa category and allows the applicant to conduct work whilst residing with a spouse in the Republic.
Work Exchange Visa
This permit issued to applicants under the age of 25 years and may only conduct work for one year. Exchange visa may be issued to foreigners who are not older than 25 years of age and wish to participate in cultural, economic or social exchange programs administered by an organ of the State or a public higher educational institution in conjunction with an organ of a foreign state
